Can't read or write English? You could still serve on a jury under new rules | Mail Online

Can't read or write English? You could still serve on a jury under new rules | Mail Online

I'm sorry and I really mean no disrespect but how can a person who can neither read nor write in English possibly be considered for jury duty in England,Wales and N.Ireland.? Fortunately, Scotland has a different system which many English newspapers forget and they consider England to be all of the Uk? Call up letters are sent out in seven languages....why? Are the Courts going to pay for interpreters?
Take a fraud case, for example. Social Security is defrauded with false claims. How does somebody 'read' that evidence, should papers be handed round, if they can't read English. It is madness. The Appeals, because of juries misunderstanding evidence, will increase. Wrongful convictions will increase too.
