Part-time work: Of 200k jobs created last year only 3% were full-time

Surely some work is better than none at all. It gives one a boost, raises self esteem and puts some money in your pocket. My objection to the job splitting scheme is where it is used to start two people to replace or instead of one full time worker. Take a receptionist at a Doctors for example.
One person could easily cover the whole week. However they split it to 8.30am to 12.30 and 12.30 to 5.30pm for instance making 2 part time jobs. Each person will not earn enough to pay much tax, if any. They pay no National Insurance. But the Doctor is relieved of the duty of tax collector/form filler and has no employer's share of N.I to pay, thus saving money.
Supermarkets are the biggest "users" of this scheme. The only benefit for workers is the flexibility, in that, they can change shift with others for outside work reasons and not drop in income.
