This is what I detest about Unions. They carefully choose when to strike to cause the worst possible havoc.
On the 5th November, in Britain, we have Bonfire Night. It is a celebration of the Gunpowder plot when William Gatsby and others tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament by burrowing under and placing gunpowder underneath it. They were caught and hanged. This was in 1605 !!! but we have long memories in the UK. In Scotland there a walls painted with "remember Bannockburn" and that Battle was in 1314 ! But I digress.
So on the 5th huge bonfires are built and set on fire. Many get totally out of hand and need the fire brigade to put them out! It is probably the busiest night of the year in many areas, especially the inner cities. So now our firefighters have decided to strike on a deliberately picked date.
Now I am not anti union but if a grievance cannot be resolved and labour is to be withdrawn then by all means do so. But do it then and there!! Do not pick a time to do it .
