Because it is Summer and the media are begging for a human interest story with a domestic animal or a child or even better with both involved. The heavy hitter journalists are all on holiday and the second eleven just have to prove themselves and get a "front page." Most journalists actually frame their "front pages" as they become a form of C.V.
