In Iraq soldiers sat on pallets of US Dollars to "have a cup of tea.!
There were no banks to put it in!!! If someone had an authorisation pass then they took whatever they wanted. whether it arrived at a real destination is unlikely.
Now the same thing is going on in Afghanistan with "loadsa money" just lying about in bundles or on pallets. oops this packet has broken open" or "oops did you put that pallet on the right truck?"Viet Nam was no different as is any War. There are always thieves, even in uniform!!!
At one time bundles of drugs were flown back to USA in body bags with dead soldiers and removed by arrivals staff. This was found. So the drugs were then sewn inside the body as every soldier had a Post Mortem.The stitches were opened and drugs then removed when the body arrived.!
