VAT is a sales tax invented by the European community and we are forced to pay 20% on top of prices for goods and services.
If this tax is repealed in the UK, then we will automatically be about 20% cheaper than Europe. I say almost because a chain evolves like this one.........

he then charges you £24 plus 20% £4.80 or £28.80 at least. fred may like to profit for ordering.
a £20 spare becomes £28.80 so it ends up as £20 plus £8..80 vat when you get an invoice
