I can vaguely remember, as a kid, being kept in my bedroom with curtains closed and all the lights out. I had a fever for about 10 days and the whole boring episode took about 5 weeks to play out.

In later life, I heard about adult measles, which I believe is known as shingles. Apparently, this is a whole different ballgame, which is extremely painful. Some people have died after getting it.
