I do not use central heating I have electric units which only heat up the bricks inside and the wall behind them. There are no fans to push out the heat. I can't talk about gas but they have no fans either. I use propane gas heaters, which are on wheels. I can move them about easily.
You can seal up your windows with tape and put curtains up on your main entry and room doors.
