The Lord Lyon's office authorises new tartans!!! Prosecutes folks who invent Clans Heraldry and/or uses fake titles. I first came across the office when I was asked to form a limited company for a client, who wanted to put Scotland in the title of the company like Paddy Fields (Scotland) Ltd. The Lord Lyon had to give permission,for a fee of course, to use Scotland and it normally took six months to do so. I told my client to forget it !!!
