Cold callers face ban on using 'unknown' phone number ruse | Daily Mail OnlineI have a simple solution to avoid answering cold calls. On my landline, I allow six rings to pass before answering the phone. Auto dial software cuts off then to avoid answer machines costing them a call charge. Yes,there are a very few who still manually dial in which case you need caller ID to be sure.
On my mobile, when a strange number is displayed, I put the number into the computer browser and search. If it turns out to be crap, I give that number, along with the other crap, a separate ringtone. When I hear that ringtone,no struggle to find phone, just ignore it.
