Just as the Provisional IRA are the militants associated with Shin Fain in Ireland. Every fringe political group has militants. Even in Scotland we had a Scottish Republican Army which planted bombs in Edinburgh litter bins. Indeed some members almost killed themselves in a flat in Dennistoun,Glasgow. They had received European 24 hour timers from contacts in the IRA. The Uk was not on the 24hour clock so instead of setting the timer for 0400hrs they set it for 1600hrs and went for a pint as you do after a morning building a bomb.

So chatting away, they hear an explosion and then Fire, Ambulance and Police bells and sirens.
