uk.reuters are also doing a link to the sentence part of the trial.   Metal Micky's lawyers are trying to persuade the Court that there are no facilities for disabled peeps in the jails of South Africa. A deputy director of prisons has said that he would be put into a hospital section and not in general population.

They are now on about facilities and counting the number of showers and baths available. In general population there are showers but in the hospital section they have baths.

Metal Micky has no legs and they seem to be going down the road that he cannot be protected or cared for in jail should he get a sentence.

His lawyer is reporting threats to kill him by the General of the 26 gang, who has already stabbed another prisoner,thus showing that the threat is not empty rhetoric. As a white guy, in a predominately black prison population, he is certainly going to be a target.

They have adjourned now so that the prisons guy can go get figures relating to shower doors and the numbers of cases in which a prisoner has been refused normal medication. This happens, all the time, in Uk jails. The lawyer is painting the prisons as being a bad environment in which to stick Metal Micky.

If h was in the Uk,they would put him in an open prison but he would probably do a runner !!!
