It is being reported that the USA is training Syrian rebel troops, in Jordan, having decided to recognise the rebels. Therefore we now have a Civil War, complete with outside influences.
Egypt will go down the same path,soon. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will follow a similar route during 2013.
I suppose it is easier and more profitable to use the old maxim of divide and conquer to take over the World than to invade all the time.
