Chaos for Christmas: Rail unions plan Tube and train walkouts targeting the holiday getaway AND Boxing Day sales |
Now I am not anti Union. Without them kids would still be down mines and cleaning out under factory machinery, while it was working. Even worse, woman would still be dipping small bits of wood into a sulphur based goo to make matches. These brave ladies were, in fact, the first group to go on strike. The certainly had a grievance breathing those fumes all week for less than a penny. The wanted and got a rise to a penny a week!!!
My point being that after negotiations broke down, they withdraw their labour. These days it appears that strikes are called to cause the maximum disruption as a first move to force meetings with a huge threat on the table as opposed to calling a strike as a last resort.
In addition, they always seem to call them at holiday times. Are there no problems the rest of the year?
