Well the Olympic Games have started in a theatrical way with a display of stuff, supposedly British but actually, as usual, English.
Anyway, the events park is so huge,covering some 57 football pitches and it takes nearly an hour to walk there from the nearest station. It is a walking only zone and takes ages to get from one side to the other. Just the trip that is a nightmare for disabled folk who don't have electric wheel chairs !! Why do they not have electric mini trains or little electric wagons towing three carriages round. I saw them in Disneyland in Annaheim in 1969, so they ain't new!!
I can imagine trying to drag two rug rats round. all day, with the whole experience changing quickly to a nightmare within the first hour's walk, just to get there!! A bacon sandwich is £3.50 which is legalised extortion. A fish supper at £8.50, I suppose is not so bad.
The Olympics were invented to show off the fighting skills of the various countries in a peaceful theatre. So why, tennis,beach volleyball, BMX bike riding and football, among other events. The games were also supposed to be for amateurs only, so why Bradley Wiggins, Andy Murray, and all of those professional wife swapping footballers ?
Instead of watching the opening ceremony I am watching Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, followed by Quantum of Solace, both of which I have seen many times, but still consider them to be far better!
