The Olympics were originally put together to show the fighting skills of the Greek army. They were then opened out to include other countries in peaceful battles of skill, like throwing the javelin and so on.
Why are beach volleyball, football, cycling and BMX riding, to name but a few genres included. What next...Dominoes?
