Smart meters have been fitted to loads of homes in the USA and in some other countries round the World. They are coming to the UK soon with the Dept. of Energy and Climate Change asking that 65% of UK consumers have them fitted by 2015
Much has been said, in America, about the fact that these things pulse every six seconds on the same frequency as mobile phones. There are heath issues surrounding these frequencies and more and more information is coming out all the time. The meters were installed and people told that it was an upgrade. It was not realised that you could refuse to have one!!! Anyone who figured this out and wanted it removed, then had to pay a fee!!! Nobody was ever asked if they wanted one or not.!!
An FBI report has stated that people are using a cheap optical converter to hack their meter and reduce their bill!!! In the same report they say that by putting a magnet on top of the meter it actually just stops!!!
In the UK, British Gas have fitted some 200,000 meters ahead of time. However new guidelines, issued recently, make them useless!! They will have to be ripped out and replaced because the new one will have to be able to accept software downloads. Why I ask myself???
again, in these new guidelines a customer may block all information going out with the exception of usage figures. It appears that the software will give details of when you use gas or electricity or both. A load of statistics, in other words. This can now be blocked by the customer and should be.
So this £11 billion project is a waste of time as the meters can be cancelled by simple magnetism. Ho hum!!!
