I have travelled on these tram/trains in Amsterdam and really enjoyed the experience. You are not caught up in the usual city traffic jams as the trains just belt along in their own lane on rails.  You can look round and see things which you would never see in a car as you must continually watch for other cars sneaking up your inside or my personal favourite, mothers who push out the pram to make sure there is no traffic coming before they come out from behind buses and big vans.
