The main thing keeping America afloat is the fat that the Dollar is the reserve currency of the World. Countries, whose own currency is unacceptable must buy Dollars to pay for their imports. In addition, oil and Gold are priced and dealt in Dollars.
The more Dollars that the Fed prints merely devalues each one's value, by stealth. Hence countries must buy more of them to pay their bills.The Fed, of course, charges interest on each Dollar printed and lent to America
