Silent calls face threat of £2m fine, says Ofcom

BBC News - Silent calls face threat of £2m fine, says Ofcom

This is a wonderful idea. I switched my land line off completely. When I want to make a call I plug it in then pull out the connection. This keeps the internet going. Why?
I was getting silent calls and other calls from debt collectors begging me to pay them. Some where using auto dialled calls which you could set your watch too on a two hourly basis. They ended up in two shifts phoning from 8.30am until 8.00pm. I could have, quite legally, made a claim for harassment but I thought why bother let them phone away.
One guy I spoke to had his script all prepared and launched into it.
Do you have a mobile phone? Answer Yes Can I have the number to contact you Answer No
Why not he says? Answer There is no legal requirement to do so. Oh. Eh Well eh. Script out the window!
Friends phone my mobile and then I phone them back on my free local calls for a £5 a month deal
