The natural gas that Israel buys comes from fields out in Mediterranean waters off Egypt and Gaza. The fields off Gaza are the subject of a 15 year lease deal between British Gas (60%) CCC of Lebanon (30%) and Gaza trust (10%) Israel pays to have it pumped from Egypt. However if Israel can takeover Gaza then they can have the gas supply to themselves at a much reduced cost. This is the one main reason that there is conflict.
