Obviously low savings and investment interest rates are here and will be here for a long time to come. It was the madness of speculation and unsustainable high interest rates which brought all of the Ponzi schemes and crazy derivatives in which people lost gazzllions.
In the Uk, I get zero interest on my current account and manage to get 0.5% on a savings account. Fortunately, I saw it coming and moved my money into Premium Bonds and into a Credit Union. Although the interest on the Bonds is officially zero,by winning prizes in the monthly Bond draw, I am getting 1.5% to 2.0% interest and the same in the Union.
I use the five week period on my credit card. I buy at the beginning of it and put all of my income away for a month until the Card is due. I pay the Card and start again.So over 2 months, I get 1 month's interest on my income and pay no Card interest.
