These are the details of Section 163 of the Road Traffic Act (1988) which are used,by police,in uniform,to demand that a driver must produce a Driving License.

NOTE.  Should you not be carrying your license on you because.....in another jacket,  at home for safety,blah  blah.   you can elect to produce the license,in person,at a Police Station,of your choice,within seven days of the request to produce......



Asking for a date of birth is merely a cross check move by police.  Your D.o.B  in reverse, is actually your Driving License number.  If you cannot produce your license, for whatever reason, then the D o B in reverse, gives them the license number to check from there.

NOTE   The photograph,in the new driving license, must be renewed every ten years. Yet another way to produce more money, either by changing it, or, by not changing it, whereupon a new charge can be brought, to produce more Fine money.

The whole game is a mega big business, to produce income for the Government.  Each police area is,in fact, a limited Company.
