Muslim footballer Papiss Cisse wears the Newcastle Wonga kit for the first time and scores against St Mirren
I take my hat off to this guy, who put his religion before money. Muslims do not agree with charging interest on any loan. The idea being that one person should help another out and be repaid, later. The club has Wonga as sponsors and they charge ridiculous interest. So he said, sod that, I am not wearing the advert for them.Apparently this is now resolved.
Muslims pray five times a day. So I wonder what he would do if a prayer time was in the middle of a match? Would he get the compass out,run off for a prayer rug and get down? Or would he just refuse to play?
The Scottish runner,Eric Liddell, about whom the Chariots of Fire movie was made, refused to run in the Olympics. on a Sunday. He was from the Western Isles in Scotland and a member of a very strick church, which observed the Lord's Day, when they do nothing.
