Turkey has always been the country where West meets East and it is a gateway to the Balkans. It has always become involved in other people's wars, by East trying to go West and vice versa. To this end, they have become superb wheeler-dealers, playing one side against the other.

They have American airbases and are great trading pals with Iran. In any conflict, they, like all of the 'Stans, who are also trading friends with Iran, would refuse to grant overfly permission. This would mean that American and presumably their lapdog puppy, the UK's aircraft would have a long round-a-bout route t travel, needing mid-air refueling to go to and from bases in Italy, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain and the UK.

As soon as Israeli planes took off, Iran would launch missiles, which fly much faster than planes to leave them no place to return to land. This is the big reason that Israel wants no part in actually taking part, wanting others to do the dirty work, while they cheer from the sidelines. Israel would be demolished, into a pile of rubble, by missiles from two or even more fronts. They should dig up Adolf and ask him about that game!!! Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, has a huge arsenal of rockets and big guns, which are well within range to hit Israel. Syria, in a bit of internal bother just now, would just love a chance of home team boosting of spirits, by lobing missiles and shells from atop the Golan Heights right into central Israel.No Israel cannot play!!

Turkey has always been on friendly terms with Russia and USA. Both sides have courted them as a gateway to the East from the West. The British got a bloody nose there, when during their 18th Cent. World Domination Tour Turkey sided with the East and stopped the British advance. Britain had its navy to blockade and fire shells, but Turkey held the land key and there was no Air Force, to destroy roads ad bridges.

On that point, Turkey entered into a deal to buy American F 35 lemons. Why did they need their turkey basted or what? These planes are white elephants which are so bad that they can only remain in theatre for about an hour or less. Sure they have stealth which has been proven to be not so good after all of the hype. By using low band radar, the hum/roar of exhaust noise can be tracked which identifies them as stealth craft.

In addition, much of the lemon's core is made in Israel and the whole plane has masses of mickysoft computers with Intel, made in Isreal, chips within them. It has been discovered that Intel has 'secretly' embedded a small management data chip, into their own chips, which communicates directly with Israel. The whole helmet, fire yer guns, Darth Vader nut cover is run by Intel chips with their embedded little helpers. Can they be controlled and/or switched off my mummy??  Of course, they can. The British will find this out when lemons begin falling short of HMS big Lizzie's landing deck!! kaboom!. The Germans got a real bad doze of that with F 104 Starfighters which became known as Widowmakers, for the Germans!!! Having been kippered with those early chips the German Luftwaffe discovered the Boeing uninterruptible auto pilot in their planes!!! FFS!! It had never been mentioned in the sales pitch by Boeing. The Germans ripped it out and changed it to communicate with Germany not USA in the event of a problem.

In my view, Turkey was gonna get basted, if they took these lemons and they are very lucky indeed that the deal is being canceled. Now they can buy, the far superior, Sukhoi fighter bombers, as India also did, from Russia. Their pal Iran bought the Rusian S 300 system and now Turkey has taken delivery of the more modern S400

Russia is moving up as an arms trader and with the debacle of the nose-diving Boeing 737, Airbus has a clear run on bigger jets. However, coming on the rails are Embraer from emerging Brazil, Bombardier from Canada,  and the outsider C919 from China which with a  few more models could just capture the Far East 'bus stop'  feeder hub market, if they beat the Japanese Mitsubishi, which is a little more established. Russia has never produced a selling civilian jet but is now trying with Sukois being bought in Belgium.
