I was only smacked once during my childhood. Apparently, I had been a little shit and got the wait till your father gets home bit. So after tea, the tale was recounted and over the knee I went before going to bed early. Smackity smack!
My father noticed that the smacks had left red imprints and immediately banned smacking forever!! I believe that smacking should be like nukes, the ultimate deterrent. Never used, left as being the fear of the unknown.
