England's Jamie Vardy's oddball approach to Euro 2016 is working wonders  | Daily Mail Online



Reminds me of the late great Jim Baxter, who played for Glasgow Rangers and Scotland. He never went to training at Ibrox and 'trained' on Bacardi and coke having several before every game!

He it was who juggled the ball, playing 'keepie uppy'  and at one point sitting on it during the game between Scotland and England after they won the World Cup in 1966. Scotland beat them 1- 0

On one crazy night, the Scotland team were taken to Largs for team talks,videos and training. A curfew was in place and players had to be in bed for 2200hrs on the night before the game. Largs,in Summer, is a bustling tourist town on the Firth of Clyde in the West of Scotland. So pubs and clubs were open until 0200 in the morning.

So Jim Baxter,Jimmy Johnstone and Willie Henderson 'escaped' from the team hotel and went on the town!!! Walking back to the hotel after 0300 they decided to take holiday rowing boats out for a spin.

Out they traveled, away from shore and then figured out why the boats were left over night. No oars!

They decided to swim ashore but Jimmy Johnstone could not swim!!!

So at 0400,, on the day of the game, the rescue services,coast guard and police were all called out to rescue Johnstone. The manager was furious. !!
