These street theatre plays were done,quite brilliantly I think, to remind Americans to be watchful and to act as unpaid snitches. There were done in cities,where bombs could be expected,in schools/cinemas where shootings could be expected and in Sandy Hook to prove that anywhere was a possibility.
The fear of it could happen...anywhere, galvanised peeps to look out for unusual activity and/or people in the wrong place at the wrong time. They got rid of complacency.
