When I was a kid, reading about the missing link between folks crawling round on hands and knees and walking tall on two feet, I thought why cant they find it. When I realised that religion was all carrot and stick control and dropped out of that at about 15 years old. There just had to be other Plants with people,of some kind on them. I liked Darwin,but it was too slow. So there I was n a quandary.

Why could 'they' not have come here?

That was the key which unlocked the door and Louis Brown, being the first test tube baby, opened it completely.  'They' came here and tampered with the ground crawlers and made us walk. I assume many stayed,either voluntarily or as a mission, just as,later, missionaries lived in India and Africa,much later.

So why not inter breed?

They were advanced and used the walkers to build It was a giant leap for Earth. These machines they are finding are the remains of that time. I believe that they were wiped out by a collision(s) and few were left to begin again.
