If this is not a hoax of some kind and the call really came from Deigo Garcia then America is in very deep shit !! After all it is their super secret base.
The islanders,who were forced off the island,by Britain,in order to build the base, have been fighting through Courts in England for decades to tr and get their homes back ion the island to no avail. So indiginous extremists can't get blamed this time. It is solely down to America.
Another identical plane, in Malaysian livery, has been hidden in a hanger in Tel Aviv sine October/Novmber 2013 I do not know what it costs to lease an airliner but it ain't cheap!! So why is this plane not 'working.' It is still owned by the leasing company, who bought it from Boeing and it is still rented from them by Malaysian Airlines with no returns being made on it??
This has been weird from the beginning. Radar cannot be switched off inside a plane. Yes the transponder certainly can be,but not radar. German fighters and bombers had no transponders during WW2 but they could still be tracked on the new wonder British inention,radar!! It then comes out that Boeing get data on the structure of the plane. Then that Rolls Royce get data on the engines. This all comes in via satellites. Military satellites,in orbit have radar and sensors fitted which can track a plane too.
The icing on the cake, is the fact, that a uninteruptible flying capability has been fitted to all modern Boeing planes since BEFORE 2000 (think about this one) which allows the plane to be flown, from the ground or another plane, in case hijackers took it over. Any Boeing can be flown like a kids' toy!!
I posted about this remote flying capability at the time of 9/11. I discovered that the German Air Force techs had discovered this system and the Lufflaffe did not fancy America being able to takeover and lock out their pilots,they ripped it out and put in their own system, which only Germans could use and control!!!!
So this all stinks !!!
