All of these soothsayers have been saying 'the end is nigh' for years ,now!!  Nothing ever happens!! People have merely become complainant,developed a hang dog attitude and just plain, gave up.
Yes the American Empire is in it's death throws, going the same way as the Roman Empire went, as the Greek Empire, as the AustroHungarian, as the British,all did before them. The get a few countries under their belt and think that they can rule the whole World. BUT........
The World is just too big!!The logistics and costs involved, for one country to take over all of the rest, are huge to capture, in the first place and then, later, to pour money into them. One country, cannot generate enough wealth. The balance of their economic model becomes wholly War orientated and basically they rot from the inside outwards, as the people eventually suffer,at home, for the aggrandisement of their leaders. Russia was a recent case. Ronnie Raygun played his best acting roll ever, by convincing the Russians about Star Wars. Russia went over to an almost 100% military economy to catch up with the myth. They went bust !!
There is a phrase in Economics, "guns or butter"  which means that you can't have both in huge numbers!!  One will suffer for the other.
America is currently involved in over 75 Wars, of some kind. They have reached the point where they are looking over the edge of the abyss into economic ruin, should they go any further. Hence any War in Syria or even worse, in Iran, would actually finish America,economically.
