A river runs through it: The Thames takes centre stage for the Olympic opening ceremony | Mail Online
Why does the river Thames, which flows through London, in England, displace Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, from the British Olympics?? Or as in the commentary on the Germany/Holland football match, England beating Germany in 1966, at Wembley, still got mentioned.
Of course they do not mention that the first team that England played, having won the World Cup, was Scotland, who beat them 1-0 with a memorable Jim Baxter playing keepie uppie with the ball, as he ran down the pitch, with nobody willing to tackle him!!
The sooner that the UK is broken up into separate countries the better I will like it!! Then England can tell of the Opium Wars with China.!!
