I have been around Free Masons all my life. My bestman joined because he believed that it would get him a Council house! His girlfriend,later wife,was pregnant and he would have been allocated a house anyway. A very silly reason to join.
Later,after my divorce I fell into a group of Masons who where my tea time drinking group. Some were in the oil industry,others self employed. I was 'checked out' as they say which consists of members in my company being asked if I am a 'good bloke.' They also used a member cop to get copies of any prospective member's criminal record and police reports. This,of course, is illegal but masonic cops still do it to this day. The members spy on you to find out your general views. They are rarely good at it and become obvious. I was invited to social evenings, come to the door and ask for joe sort of stuff.
I declined their overtures. If a person cannot get ahead by themselves why should they get ahead because of a handshake. I did make a point of watching them and learned all of their sheik ma hand stuff which I used later when meeting folk to discern who was who. It was fun being asked which lodge I attended, having shook a hand correctly. People would tell me how high up the ladder they had gone and give away all.
I was asked by friends later in life to join. They had all joined hoping for a leg up in Canada where they were immigrating to live. They wanted that little bit extra. Canada is a masonic country and I could not blame them.
I was later involved with people who had bank managers in their pockets, because they were higher up the greasy pole than the bankers. Companies were formed with no hope of trading successfully and the banks were stuck with the overdrafts. It was a joke.!
The common or garden Mason is really just cannon fodder. They will vote en mass,for whomever is flavour of the month. They can be manipulated easily because the lodge is the only place left that they believe they can shine, having failed everywhere else. They can be a good bloke..totally programmed.

The Voice
I have a reason to actually watch TV tonight. The Voice is on. I like the concept that people win on their sound alone, backed by a damn good house band, who seem to be able to play everything thrown at them.
Last week had a load of crap on it. A complete disgrace. Normally there is a good pub singer but the star attraction was one half of Paper Lace of Adagdo and Conga fame. Now they have made a right few quid from bringing out funny party songs and they are still touring. So why was he on the show? Thankfully nobody turned for him.
It is nice to watch the shy newbies slowly progress and gain in confidence as the move toward the final. Unfortunately none of the winners,with the exception of Leah someone from Ireland has made any money. She made it because she did a duet with willie I am and has never been heard of since.!! I suspect that she got 10% of the take or less, on that one record. Some other womin sold 1,000 albums.
A young gospel singer disappeared and in that way the show is a flop.
But I like it 'cause I'm weird. I also like Pointless the teatime quiz show in which not knowing things creates winners. I must see a shrink very soon !

The under 20s have finally realised that the whole voting thing is a scam!! I voted,when I was 18 to see what the process was all about and never voted after that with the exception of a No vote to enter Europe. I didn't even waste my time in the Scottish vote as the No vote group was obviously going to win. Labour votes saw to that as they are the largest consistent voting block in Scotland. They vote like lemmings along family lines and know nothing about politics whatever.
The party,which I wanted to vote for,the Liberals, did not even put up a candidate when I first voted!!! It was a straight fight between Conservative and Labour in a West of Scotland seat which had been Labour controlled since before the flood !! Labour always won!!
The Conservative party in Scotland have 1 MP who will probably disappear this Election. I would never vote for them anyway. Nor would I vote for Labour. They are two sides of the same coin. They waste money undoing the other's policies and get nowhere. We need a change....we need a Liberal Government.
An interesting scenario would be a Liberal SNP coalition. Now that would be fun !!!
Although Labour will win more seats than the SNP the Consevatives may have trouble in England and Wales with seats going to the Liberals. If Labour and Conservatives cancel each other out,then the way is clear for a Liberal SNP coalition.
