A very shrewd lady !  She is bound to get free cases of Irn Bru,for life, now.  But let's look at Irn Bru....

The original factory is in Glasgow Scotland. It became too small and A&G Barr could not extend it. They looked round and were offered a sweetheart deal of a new factory in a special development area with all sorts of reduced fixed costs such as rent and commercial rates. It was on a new commercial site with good road access and just what they needed. BUT  it was in Sunderland which is in the North East of England.

Now Barr's were locked into the Scottishness of their product.  All of their advertising pushed Scotland.

So they took the factory,very quietly.

They moved liquid from Sunderland to Glasgow for bottling. They set up a transport company,separate from Barrs and put stainless steel tankers into the ownership of the company. Other Barr's wagons were owned by A&G Barr.  A commercial lorry must have owners details on each wagon. These tankers had no adverts on the side. Have you ever seen a big company who does not advertise on their lorries??

Since the Sunderland episode they now have another factory in Milton Keynes which they did announce when they decided to go international against Coca Cola and Pepsi.

But back to Sunderland / Glasgow.   Glagow water is free of Fluoride by Law. Sunderland water has Fluoride in it.  So some Irn Bru has Fluoride and some does not. There are no labels. Milton Keynes also has Fluoride and so their product has it but it could be on sale in Scotland just as easily.!!
