There should be a way to remove a couple of road mid section barriers and divert traffic back the way they came, on one lane of the opposite carriageway, to find an alternative route.
This would make much better use of all the police cars you see at accidents with their lights flashing and filled up with officers on loads of overtime. They all know that if they can get there to the crash,they will make loads a money!!!
Stop traffic going the other way,remove barriers and divert a load of cars the other way to the next slip road. Then rotate the process. This would avoid all of these tailbacks
