I like the funeral pyre idea from India.  Everybody out in the garden for a barbecue and a live band!

So a few tears ago,I took a mad notion to find out how much 'pay in advance' funerals would cost. My family has a plot in the local cemetery which I now own. A new one would cost £3,000  !!! A saving there.!  So on to the tick this or not list.....  The more you tick the higher the price..of course.

So I got

One hearse and support unit (a limo)

A collection of the body,rub down with a wet sponge, a nice wee dress and an overnight stay in a chill room

A wee service and a quick ride of about 1.5 miles from parlour to planting.

I could pay in a lump sum or by standing order.    COST   About £3,000

Is it any wonder people are going for cremations at at fee of about £150.

So what did I do?   Well ever the gambler,I'm playing the odds. I took out a life insurance policy which gives £4,000 out.  For this I pay £20 per month.  So far I'm winning !!!

Some years ago a Communist Union leader died in Glasgow. His pals all had a good drink and rocked up to a local crematorium with the guy's body in a cardboard box in the back of a van !!!  They had all of the paperwork. The guy was dead....official like !!!

Well the shit hit the fan. The police were called and sure enough there was this stiff, in a cardboard box, in the back of a van. Tv crews,listening to police radio,turned up,as did local radio stations.  Head scratching all round !!   Comments like 'out of order'   The Hackney Carriage Act forbids transport of bodies said some bright spark.   'This is a van' was the retort and anyway that Act was repealed in the Local Government(Scotland) Act  which now covers taxis.

So the result was that if the paperwork was in order and the required fees paid,you can rock up,in a van, with a stiff, in a cardboard box and have it burned for you !!!
