I must say that I actually believe that the cop was attacked and defended himself. The question is the force of that defense. If he believed that he could not grapple with the guy and restrain him then he had a choice of tazer or gun.  These are all split second decisions!

His basic training,as an older cop, would click in and he would go for the gun.  A younger cop might have gone for the tazer first,before  the gun. He knew that he was going to be attacked and had to end it quickly, as there were other people about. He had to be in command.

It is going to be a wild weekend in Ferguson !!
