BBC News - Scottish independence: 'Leak' row marks weekend's campaign
The gloves are off in the last week before the big independence vote in Scotland on the 18th. Threats and counter threats are being made, some of which seem ludicrous to me. Here are just some of them.........
Salmond says that there will be ' a day of reckoning' with companies who said vote No. This is stupid. It is their business and they have a right to say so.
Scottish Soldiers, not in Scotland at present, have not been allowed to vote. Surely they should have been given a postal vote. Prisoners are not allowed to vote either.
This is the first major vote in which young people from the age of 16 will be allowed to vote. In Scotland, the age of consent is 16.
BT and other phone companies say that if independence comes in,phone bills will rise. Why? They provide the service now, so why is it going to be dearer???
Banks say that they may move. This is rubbish. The big banks already have huge offices in London, interconnected by computers.
I can hardly see why there should be any differences between trading now, today prior to independence and trading after independence.
Scots do not like to be bullied. All of these threats will actually increase the YES vote.
