Family ??? Scotland was at war with England for centuries,killing raping and pillaging on both sides of the border. Family???
In 1314,at Bannockburn, we beat them at a home fixture. Skirmishes continued until the Crowns were unified when James became the King of Scotland and England in the early 18th century.
Charles Stewart snr and jnr were in exile in France,our old ally. In 1715 and again in 1745 they raised forces in Scotland to attack England. The 1715 raising failed but the 30 years later was really successful. The Scots got down as far as Derby and camped up for the last siege and push into the walled city of London. His spies entered London on a daily basis and reported that they were starving,diseased and ready to surrender/ For some strange reason the Young pretender Charles Edward Stewart decided to return to Scotland. It was ludicrous!!
Had he pushed on,England would now be wanting independence from us!!
