The lady with him was in fact his wife, who is Saudi born. These religious police whizz about and are all powerful. So they are now in trouble, as they did not question,but just laid into the husband, whom they thought was not. She offended too, in their eyes. She had no Chaperone's as they assumed she was single or worse, could this be adultery?   Oh the heat under their frocks at the thought of a good stoning !
