There are roughly 5.5 million folks in Scotland. Of course, not all can vote, as many are children or are not eligible for other reasons,such as being in jail,for an example. It appears that ex pats are not allowed to vote and as most folk know,any country which you go to,you always find a Scot. So who knows will the Government suddenly allow ex pats to vote?.

Here is where I believe that the fiddle will come from............

The Government will announce some fanciful figure of the number of people who could have voted,including the suddenly enfranchised ex pats. Then after the vote they will divide the YES vote, which will win, by the amount of possible votes,  to produce a percentage. This,of course, will be well below 50% and therefore the Government will claim that a majority don't want independence for Scotland.
