I am afraid that Ranty has fallen for a real hoary old chestnut in the Law. A person is deemed to be guilty in dealings with the Revenue and it is up to the person to disprove their figures by providing third party proof.

In the absence of Accounts being submitted, the Revenue may issue an estimate of a person's or business tax liability, for a trading year (s). It is then up to the recipient to disprove the amount said to be due. If a person or business ignores these estimates, the Revenue has the power to collect these guesstimates plus interest and penalties for non compliance.
