The Conservatives,under Margaret Thatcher,decimated the power that the Unions had over the Uk. The coal miners were the biggest casualties. Unions had just become more powerful than the State,it was that simple and a trial of strength ensued.

Since then the fire brigade union has taken on the mantle of attempted control assisted by London underground drivers. They,too,will have to be slapped down, soon!
