Our Councils, just like the Government and just like each of us, has to either balance the books or borrow.We all must decide what to buy and what not to buy and will the purchase be cost effective.

Now Councils,especially, buy Insurance for everything !!!

I have noticed over the past 10 / 15 years, that Councils are not repairing potholes. It is a never ending job as they fill one in another one appears. So joe public gets a car wheel smashed and a tyre ruined, what happens next? Well Joe gets all the details and claims the Council who,in turn, mess joe about hoping he gives up. If joe keeps going,then the claim is passed to the Insurance company who mess joe about. After threatening County Court action in England or just suing in Scotland,joe gets paid out by the insurance firm.

Now, as long as the insurance premiums are less than the probable cost of repairing never ending potholes, that is a financial result for all Councils.!!  No more pothole repair costs.  So why are they asking for more money to repair potholes??
