There certainly seems to be a lot of wringing of hands going on, within the current Uk Government, as to what their position would be, when Scotland becomes independent. Higher ranking spokespersons are coming out saying that it would be a terrible thing for Scotland. In this New World Order or Orwellian doublespeck we know that they are worried about their own position and certainly not the position of Scotland. Money,of course, is the problem.
Scottish waters have much more undersea oil and gas than there is within English fields. There are huge fields of Shetland and out into the Atlantic as far as Rockall which is the last bit of land to the west of Scotland. Currently, the Uk, Denmark and Ireland are fighting in the UN over ownership of the rock.
Originally, it belonged to Iceland, which was captured by the Danes from Denmark, possibly on their way to America. But that is another story!!. The Danes, later, tried to invade Scotland. They lost and as part of the settlement Orkney, Shetland, the Western Isles and Rockhall were all given to Scotland.
We were invaded by England and lost. Later,still, we all became British as is Rockhall. However, when Scotland becomes independent,the islands revert to Scotland.  So we have plenty of oil, gas and income for the future.
All oil deals will have to be renegotiated and hopefully we will adopt the Norwegian system of a 50/50 split in perpetuity as opposed to the license fee situation,currently.
This is the nub of the English concern.
