American nuclear power plants are crumbling due to their age. They should be decommissioned and replaced. However there are no plans to do so. These plants are privately owned and the owners are trying to wring the last few cents of profit from them before things go pear shaped.
Then,when the inevitable catastrophe happens they will file for bankruptcy to prevent being sued for trillions in compensation if,of course, there is anyone left to claim it!! China Syndrome is not far off.
