Jewel robberies do not produce much of an income these days. The jewels have normally been photographed and these photos, plus full descriptions, are circulated very quickly. The income amounts to about 10% of the value. The fence then has to sell them on or take the stones out of the settings and melt down any Gold or Silver to make any money.
