Modern family doctors combine into group practices in order to avoid doing any out of hours or weekend work.They want to have office hours, only.Have you noticed that a doctor will no longer touch any patient? They get a flunky nurse to do that now!!
 In order to pay the out of hours doctors, who substitute for them, they must generate income. This is done by having hundred's of thousands of names registered to the practice, for which they receive a per head amount of money, whether they ever see these 'names' or not. Many of the patients died years ago or have moved away,but doctors still collect the head bounty!! Only when a person registers with another UK practice is the bounty stopped and transferred..
