Many years ago I knew a cop in Glasgow who fancied himself as a Lothario. When he was out and about and saw a nice woman, in a car, he would radio for her details, quoting the car registration. If he fell lucky and she was in his area, he would pop up to see her,as a courtesy call, about some minor infringement and try to seduce her. This plan actually worked more times than not,he told me.
Well Sod's Law came into operation. He was in bed with a woman and heard a commotion outside. When he looked out the window he saw that his police car was upside down on it's roof and in flames.!!!! He got away with it by pulling the very old dud battery trick to explain why he had not been in contact for over an hour and said that he had been in garden pursuit behind tenements and had had to leave the car.
