Apocalypse-ready: Are the families stocking up for the end of civilisation crackpots or simply canny survivors? 

It is my feeling that the prepper movement has evolved as more and more information has come out about huge underground bases. If Governments are preparing to save themselves then we, who will be left on the surface, should prepare as best that we can do.My problem is,what is all the preparation for?
Is it all a " just in case" situation or do Governments actually know that something is coming? One thing is for sure, Governments will tell us nothing.This is exactly why preppers are going ahead,without knowing what they are actually preparing for and on what timeline..
The main defence seems to be that if Governments are preparing then we all should do the same.
